Portugal Removals Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions apply to all Portugal removals services provided by us to private and commercial customers within the United Kingdom and for cross-border transport to Portugal. By placing a booking, you agree that these terms form the basis of the contract between you and us. They are designed to set out the responsibilities of both parties clearly, so that your removal to Portugal is arranged in a fair, orderly, and lawful way. Please read them carefully before confirming any service.
In these terms, ???we??, ???us??, and ???our?? refer to the service provider, and ???you?? or ???customer?? refers to the person or business making the booking. These terms apply to all parts of the service unless we agree otherwise in writing. Any special instructions, inventories, quotations, or written amendments connected to your Portugal relocation service will also form part of the agreement where relevant. If there is any conflict between these terms and a written agreement signed by both parties, the written agreement will take priority.
We reserve the right to update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The version in force at the time your booking is confirmed will normally apply to that job, unless a later written amendment is agreed. Any variation must be confirmed by both parties in writing. No employee or subcontractor is authorised to change these terms orally unless we confirm the change in writing. This helps ensure that every Portugal moving service is managed consistently and transparently.
Booking Process
A booking is made when you accept our quotation and we confirm the date, scope, and price in writing or by other agreed electronic communication. Quotations are based on the information you provide, including the volume of goods, access conditions, collection and delivery points, dates, and any special handling needs. If the details change after the quotation is issued, we may revise the price, schedule, or service scope to reflect the actual requirements of your Portugal removals company booking.
Before confirmation, you must provide accurate and complete information about the goods to be moved, including any items that are fragile, valuable, oversized, restricted, or requiring dismantling. You must also disclose whether there are stairs, lifts, parking limitations, narrow access, or other logistical issues that could affect the move. If any information is withheld or materially inaccurate, we may cancel the service, adjust the quotation, or charge additional costs. These conditions apply equally to a Portugal house move and to commercial relocation work.
We may request a deposit to secure the booking. The amount, if applicable, will be stated in your quotation or booking confirmation. A booking is not guaranteed until any required deposit has cleared and we have confirmed the date. We may also require proof of identity, address, or ownership of goods where appropriate. In some cases, we may conduct a pre-move survey by phone, video, or in person in order to assess the work accurately and reduce the risk of delays or disputes on the day of the Portugal removal.
Payments and Charges
All prices are stated in pounds sterling unless otherwise agreed. Quotes may be fixed-price or estimated, depending on the information available at the time of quotation. A fixed-price quotation remains valid only if the service matches the agreed details. An estimate may increase if the actual work exceeds the original assumptions, including additional labour, waiting time, access difficulties, storage, tolls, customs-related administration where applicable, or extra mileage caused by route changes during the removals to Portugal process.
Payment terms will be set out in your booking confirmation. Unless otherwise stated, any outstanding balance must be paid no later than the agreed date, which may be before collection, on collection, before delivery, or immediately upon completion. We accept no obligation to release goods until cleared funds are received in full. If payment is delayed, we may charge interest and reasonable recovery costs in accordance with applicable law. We may also suspend the service or place goods into storage at your expense until payment is made. This applies to all Portugal moving services regardless of job size.
Additional charges may apply where the move involves waiting time beyond the agreed allowance, repeated loading or unloading, failed delivery attempts caused by inaccurate information, customer absence, additional packaging requested on the day, or the handling of items not declared in advance. We will seek to notify you of any material extra charge as soon as reasonably possible. However, where circumstances arise during transit or at the property that require immediate action to protect the goods, our team may take reasonable steps and invoice the associated cost as part of the service.
Cancellations, Postponements, and Changes
You may cancel or postpone a booking by giving us written notice. The amount payable on cancellation will depend on how much notice is given, whether third-party costs have already been incurred, and whether the team or vehicle has already been allocated. If you cancel shortly before the scheduled date, or if the move becomes impossible due to matters within your control, we may charge a cancellation fee that reflects our reasonable loss, including administrative costs and unrecoverable expenses connected to your Portugal removals arrangement.
We may cancel or postpone the service if circumstances beyond our reasonable control prevent performance, including severe weather, road closures, transport disruptions, illness, vehicle breakdown, industrial action, legal restrictions, or other events that make it impractical or unsafe to proceed. In such cases, we will aim to rearrange the move at a mutually convenient time. We are not responsible for indirect losses caused by delay or rescheduling where the cause is outside our reasonable control. Where possible, we will keep you informed and act reasonably to minimise disruption to your Portugal relocation.
Any request by you to change the date, route, delivery address, or service scope is subject to our approval and may affect the price and availability of vehicles, crews, and storage. If the revised requirements increase the work involved, we may issue an updated quotation before proceeding. Changes are only binding when confirmed in writing. If you fail to be ready on the agreed date, or if collection or delivery cannot take place due to access issues, missing keys, absent persons, or lack of payment, the job may be rescheduled and additional costs may apply.
Customer Responsibilities
You are responsible for ensuring that all items are packed appropriately unless packing has been specifically included in the service. Fragile or valuable goods should be protected and clearly identified. You must remove or secure loose parts, empty appliances where required, and ensure that items are suitable for transport. We are not responsible for damage caused by unsuitable packing, pre-existing defects, or goods that are inherently unstable. Accurate labelling and preparation will help your Portugal removals service proceed safely and efficiently.
You must ensure that the goods being moved are legally owned by you or that you have authority to arrange their transport. You must not include prohibited, illegal, hazardous, perishable, or unsuitable materials unless we have expressly agreed in writing and the law permits transport. You should also make arrangements for pets, plants, and special-category items separately unless we confirm otherwise. Failure to comply may result in refusal to transport the item, extra charges, or cancellation of the job. This responsibility forms part of every Portugal moving service.
You must be available, or have an authorised representative available, at both collection and delivery points to provide instructions, sign documents where necessary, and confirm completion. If keys, codes, permits, or access passes are required, you must provide them in good time. You are also responsible for checking that the delivery destination is ready to receive the goods. Where you ask us to leave items unattended, you do so at your own risk unless we have agreed alternative written arrangements. We recommend checking all items promptly after delivery of your removal to Portugal.
Our Liability
We will exercise reasonable care and skill when carrying out Portugal removals, but our liability is limited as set out in these terms. We are not liable for loss or damage arising from inaccurate information provided by you, inadequate packing, normal wear and tear, inherent vice, items of special value not declared in advance, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded.
Where we are liable for loss or damage to your goods, our liability will normally be limited to the lower of the actual repair or replacement cost and the declared or agreed value of the item, subject to any insurance arrangement in place and any exclusions stated in the policy. We do not provide automatic full-value insurance unless specifically stated in writing. You are responsible for declaring high-value items and for arranging additional cover if required. Claims must be supported by evidence, including photos, proof of ownership, and a reasonable estimate of loss.
We are not responsible for loss of profit, loss of business, missed deadlines, emotional distress, or other indirect or consequential losses caused by delay, cancellation, or damage, except where such exclusion is prohibited by law. If any item is damaged in transit, you must notify us within a reasonable time and provide the opportunity to inspect the item before repair or disposal. Any attempt to repair, replace, or dispose of the item without our consent may affect the claim. These limits help define fair expectations for every Portugal relocation service.
Waste Regulations and Environmental Compliance
All waste handling connected to a Portugal removal service must comply with applicable UK waste regulations and, where relevant, any legal requirements relating to the movement of goods across borders. We will only remove, transport, or dispose of waste if it is lawful to do so and if it has been expressly agreed in advance. Items intended for disposal must be clearly separated from household or business goods. We may refuse to carry waste that is prohibited, uncontrolled, hazardous, or incorrectly described.
If waste removal is included, you confirm that you have lawful authority to dispose of the items and that they are not contaminated, dangerous, or subject to special handling rules unless declared beforehand. We may require item descriptions, photographs, or other evidence before accepting waste. You must not place batteries, chemicals, fuel, paint, pressurised containers, asbestos, or other restricted substances with general disposal items unless we agree in writing and the law allows collection. Failure to comply may lead to refusal, surcharge, or termination of the Portugal removals job.
Where items are removed as waste, they may be transferred to an authorised carrier, transfer station, recycling facility, or disposal site, depending on the nature of the material and the service agreed. We will act in line with environmental obligations and will not knowingly participate in unlawful dumping or disposal. If documentation is required, including waste transfer records or declarations, you agree to provide the necessary information promptly and truthfully. You remain responsible for the accuracy of any description of waste supplied for your Portugal moving service.
Insurance, Storage, and Subcontracting
Where storage is required before, during, or after the move, separate storage terms may apply. Goods held in storage may be subject to additional fees, access rules, and minimum charges. We may move your items into storage if delivery is delayed due to your instructions, failure to accept delivery, or circumstances that make immediate completion impossible. Any storage arrangement will be subject to reasonable care, but you should check whether additional insurance is needed. Storage charges continue until all sums due have been paid and goods are collected or delivered.
We may use trusted subcontractors, carriers, or agents to perform any part of the service, including collection, transport, loading, unloading, customs-related support, or storage. Where we do so, we remain responsible for organising the service on the contractual terms agreed, subject to these limitations. You agree that subcontractors may rely on the protections and exclusions in these terms as though they were parties to the contract. This is common in cross-border Portugal removals and helps ensure efficient delivery.
Any insurance we arrange or indicate as available is subject to the relevant policy wording, exclusions, and claim process. You must notify us promptly of any incident that may give rise to a claim and provide all reasonable assistance. Failing to do so may reduce or remove entitlement to compensation. If you wish to insure particularly valuable goods, you should declare them before the move and obtain confirmation of cover. The burden remains on you to ensure that a Portugal relocation is adequately protected where necessary.
General Legal Terms and Governing Law
These terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, are governed by the law of England and Wales unless we agree otherwise in writing. If you are resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom, the mandatory consumer protections of your local law may still apply where legally required. Nothing in these terms is intended to reduce your statutory rights. Any dispute should first be raised in writing so that both parties can try to resolve the matter promptly and in good faith.
If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force. A failure or delay by us in enforcing any right does not waive that right. You may not assign or transfer your rights under the contract without our written consent. We may assign or subcontract our obligations where reasonably necessary for the performance of the service. These conditions apply to all Portugal moving services, removals to Portugal, and related transport or storage arrangements.
By confirming a booking, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions. They are intended to support a smooth, lawful, and professional Portugal removals service, while setting clear expectations about booking, payment, cancellation, liability, waste handling, and governing law. If any special arrangement is agreed, it must be confirmed in writing to be effective and will apply only to the extent stated in that written agreement.
