Portugal Removals Modern Slavery Statement
Portugal Removals is committed to conducting all aspects of its business ethically, transparently, and with respect for human rights. This Modern Slavery Statement outlines the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. It applies to all employees, contractors, and suppliers engaged by Portugal Removals.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
Portugal Removals has a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, child labour, human trafficking, debt bondage, and exploitation. We will not knowingly engage with any organisation or individual involved in such practices. This commitment is integral to our values and the way we work with our customers, partners, and communities.
All employees and anyone acting on behalf of Portugal Removals are required to conduct business in a manner that upholds human dignity and respects labour rights. Any suspected breach of this policy is treated as a serious matter and may lead to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or contract.
Our Operations and Supply Chain
Portugal Removals provides moving and relocation services, often working with a network of partners and suppliers such as transport providers, storage facilities, packing material suppliers, and other service providers. We recognise that risks related to modern slavery can arise at different stages of our supply chain, especially where there is use of temporary labour, subcontracting, or sourcing from higher-risk regions.
We are committed to understanding these risks and implementing proportionate controls so that the goods and services we procure are sourced responsibly and with respect for human rights.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We expect all suppliers and partners to share our commitment to preventing modern slavery and to uphold fair working conditions. Our supplier standards require compliance with all applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws, including prohibitions on forced labour, child labour, and human trafficking.
Portugal Removals conducts due diligence on key suppliers, proportionate to the level of risk associated with their activities and location. This may include questionnaires, declarations of compliance, and checks on labour practices. Where appropriate, we may conduct audits or request independent verification to assess working conditions and confirm that suppliers meet our standards.
If a supplier is found to be in breach of our modern slavery requirements, we will work with them to implement corrective actions within a clear timeframe. Where improvement is not possible or cooperation is not forthcoming, we may suspend or terminate the relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing
Portugal Removals encourages all employees, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to speak up if they have any concerns about modern slavery or unethical labour practices connected with our business or supply chains. Concerns can be raised through internal reporting channels, including line managers, senior management, or other designated points of contact within the company.
Reports can be made in confidence, and we will take all allegations seriously. We are committed to investigating concerns promptly and fairly, and to protecting anyone who raises a concern in good faith from retaliation or detrimental treatment. We will take appropriate action where any wrongdoing or breach is identified.
Training and Awareness
We aim to increase awareness of modern slavery risks among our employees and key partners by providing information and guidance relevant to their roles. This includes helping staff understand indicators of exploitation, how to respond to suspected cases, and how to use our reporting channels.
Managers and staff involved in procurement, supplier management, and operations receive targeted information to help them identify and mitigate risks in our supply chain.
Monitoring, Review, and Continuous Improvement
Portugal Removals is committed to continuous improvement in our efforts to combat modern slavery. We review our policies, due diligence processes, and supplier management practices on at least an annual basis to ensure they remain effective and proportionate to the risks identified.
This statement will be reviewed every year by the leadership team and updated where necessary to reflect changes in our operations, supply chains, or applicable legislation. We will continue to refine our approach, strengthen our controls, and work collaboratively with suppliers and stakeholders to safeguard the rights and wellbeing of all workers connected to our business.
This Modern Slavery Statement has been approved by the management of Portugal Removals and represents our ongoing commitment to ethical and responsible business practices.
