Tips For Moving Into Your Rented Property

It doesn’t matter if you’ve lived in rented properties before, or if you’re entirely new to the concept – moving into a rented property means there are lots of things that you should be aware of and lots of things that you need to be prepared for. If you’re moving into a rented property then have a look at this list of helpful tips to ensure that you know what to expect.1)    Make sure you fully understand your contract and your deposit scheme.Don’t just jump at the first affordable home in your price-range, as there could be reasons for it being so cheap. Make sure you read your contract multiple times to ensure you know what it is you’re paying for. Will your deposit be going into a deposit scheme? What will happen if you need to end your contract before it’s finished? Are bills included, and if so, which ones? All of the terms and conditions of your staying in the property will be outlined in your contract, so make sure that you understand what it is you can expect from your new property and your new landlord so that you won’t be left in any difficult positions anywhere down the line! 2)    Is your new property furnished? Before you move house you should know whether or not the property is furnished. Some properties may be partly-furnished, and if you have your own furniture you may be able to request the property is unfurnished before moving day. Make sure you know exactly what the property has before you move in, so that you know what it is you need to buy. 3)    Ensure that you have everything packed and ready to go.By the time your move-in date rolls round you should have everything packed and ready to be moved. If you’re using a removal service then they should have been booked weeks in advance, and there should be very little left to do – except load up your vehicle and unpack your belongings! 4)    Start by arranging your furniture.Once you’re in your new property you should start by arranging your furniture. This will leave the way clear for you start unpacking those boxes and bags without having to worry about moving your now-full bookcase or sets of drawers. You can avoid worrying about where you want your furniture to go by getting the measurements of your home before moving day. This means that you won’t have to fuss around deciding where you might want things, and so you can get straight to unpacking! 5)    Maintaining open communication with your landlord. One of the most important things that you need to make sure that you take care of when you move into your rented property involves speaking with your landlord. If things go wrong in your property then it’s your landlord that you’ll need to contact. Make sure you have both an address and a phone number so that you’ll be able to reach them when you need to. Maintain open communications with your landlord so that you have a good and healthy relationship with them. You don’t want to be on bad terms with your landlord as this could end up badly for you both! Be polite and friendly, and don’t be afraid to ask for things in your property to be dealt with – that’s what your landlord’s there for!
